A mass timber office building that makes use of local materials and prioritizes ground-floor public uses.
This comprehensive proposal for an office building on Poydras Street in downtown New Orleans is framed around three notions of linkage: 1) urban linkages, 2) visual linkages, and 3) environmental linkages. This four-story mass-timber building acts as a node that draws in the public realm, linking a busy plaza in front of the building with the quieter, more contemplative urban space in the rear. Through employing locally-produced and sustainable materials - from Southern Longleaf Pine in its structural system to Mississippi River clay in its ceramic facade - the building is deeply rooted in its particular landscape.
